Chinese law requires overseas personnel who accommodates at places except hotels registering for temporary residence within 24 hours in China. Prompt residence registering is a key factor to all future visa applications. Personnel must register within 24 hours of their arrival. As a convenience service of Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Bureau, personnel can now register through WeChat app or at the in-charge local police station(Users who stay at hotels do not need to declare). Deliberate false declaration, delayed declaration or no declaration at all will be subject to penalties.
