Purpose of Application Application Materials
F (Visitor) Visa (1)Applicant's valid passport (entire booklet, including blank pages). If issued within the last 6 months, the previous entire passport may also be provided;
(2)An application letter for the Electronic Port Visa issued by the inviting organization;
(3)One 2-inch front-facing, bareheaded, color digital photo taken within 6 months;
(4)The Electronic Port Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China;
(5)The "Application Form Declaration Signature" document;
(6)A detailed itinerary and schedule while in China;
(7)Relevant approval documents from the competent authority regarding the event organization; explanatory documents from the event organizer;
(8)Other relevant materials deemed necessary by the Shanghai Port Visa Authority.
M (Business) Visa (1)Applicant's valid passport (entire booklet, including blank pages). If issued within the last 6 months, the previous entire passport may also be provided;
(2)An application letter for the Electronic Port Visa issued by the inviting organization;
(3)One 2-inch front-facing, bareheaded, color digital photo taken within 6 months;
(4)The Electronic Port Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China;
(5)The "Application Form Declaration Signature" document;
(6)A detailed itinerary and schedule while in China;
(7)Invitation letter issued by the inviting organization, either in paper form or via email (screenshot), etc.;
(8)Other relevant materials deemed necessary by the Shanghai Port Visa Authority.
R(Talent)Visa (1)Applicant's valid passport (entire booklet, including blank pages). If issued within the last 6 months, the previous entire passport may also be provided;
(2)An application letter for the Electronic Port Visa issued by the inviting organization;
(3)One 2-inch front-facing, bareheaded, color digital photo taken within 6 months;
(4)The Electronic Port Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China;
(5)The "Application Form Declaration Signature" document;

(6)Supporting documents for foreign talents

◆Applicants recognized as foreign talent by the competent talent authority (including national, provincial/municipal talent authorities) must submit supporting documents issued by the relevant talent authority;

◆Applicants recognized as foreign talent based on market-oriented standards must provide proof of an annual salary of at least RMB 600,000 (pre-tax) or personal income tax exceeding RMB 120,000;

◆Applicants invited by enterprises listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Occupation List must provide a talent employment verification letter issued by the inviting entity;

◆ For applicants who are foreign talents holding a master's degree or higher, provide the corresponding academic qualification certificate;

◆For applicants who are foreign talents employed or invited by enterprises within "China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Shanghai Zhangjiang National Innovation Demonstration Zone", "Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation" demonstration base enterprises, Shanghai's higher education institutions, or scientific research institutes, a talent recommendation letter issued by the aforementioned units must be submitted. For foreign talents employed or invited by enterprises within the "China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Shanghai Zhangjiang National Innovation Demonstration Zone" or "Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation" zones, a qualification certificate for the organization within the jurisdiction issued by the relevant park management department is also required;

(7)Other relevant materials deemed necessary by the Shanghai Port Visa Authority.
Z (Work) Visa (1)Applicant's valid passport (entire booklet, including blank pages). If issued within the last 6 months, the previous entire passport may also be provided;
(2)An application letter for the Electronic Port Visa issued by the inviting organization;
(3)One 2-inch front-facing, bareheaded, color digital photo taken within 6 months;
(4)The Electronic Port Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China;
(5)The "Application Form Declaration Signature" document;

(6)Foreign nationals engaging in short-term work assignments (staying in China for no more than 90 days) must submit the following materials based on their respective purpose of entry:

◆Personnel engage in technical, scientific research, management, or guidance and other related works for a domestic partners; filming movies (including commercials and documentaries); fashion shows (including car models, print advertising shoots, and etc.); other circumstances recognized by the human resources and social security department, requiring to submit a valid Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China issued by the human resources and social security department;

◆Those engaged in foreign-related commercial performances may submit approval documents issued by the cultural authorities and proof of short-term employment in China;

◆Those participating in trial training at domestic sports institutions (including coaches and athletes)shall submit trial training contracts and certificates issued by the sports authorities.

(7)Foreign nationals engaged in long-term work assignments shall submit a valid Foreigner’s Work Permit or Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China issued by the human resources and social security department;
(8)Other relevant materials deemed necessary by the Shanghai Port Visa Authority.
S2 (Short-term Private Affairs) Visa (Internship) (1)Applicant's valid passport (entire booklet, including blank pages). If issued within the last 6 months, the previous entire passport may also be provided;
(2)An application letter for the Electronic Port Visa issued by the inviting organization;
(3)One 2-inch front-facing, bareheaded, color digital photo taken within 6 months;
(4)The Electronic Port Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China;
(5)The "Application Form Declaration Signature" document;
(6)Proof of enrollment or student status at an overseas institution;
(7) Internship agreement (letter of intent)
(8)A Letter of Financial Guarantee for Foreign Students’ Short-Term Internship in Shanghai issued by the inviting organization (including relevant attachments), or a proof of deposit in the intern's name at least RMB 20,000 within China.
(9)Other relevant materials deemed necessary by the Shanghai Port Visa Authority.
S2 (Short-term Private Affairs) Visa (Family Visit) (1)Applicant's valid passport (entire booklet, including blank pages). If issued within the last 6 months, the previous entire passport may also be provided;
(2)An application letter for the Electronic Port visa issued by the inviting organization;
(3)One 2-inch front-facing, bareheaded, color digital photo taken within 6 months;
(4)The Electronic Port Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China;
(5) The "Application Form Declaration Signature" document;
(6)Thepassport information page of the domestic inviter, his/her residence permit, and the proof of family relationship (if unavailable, a declaration of relationship may be substituted).
(7)Other relevant materials deemed necessary by the Shanghai Port Visa Authority.
