IMA Held its 9th IMA Management Accounting Higher Education Summit

    The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), in collaboration with Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, recently held the 9th IMA Management Accounting Higher Education Summit in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The Summit, themed "Empowering Sustainable Development with Data", featured keynote speeches, a Deans’ Forum, and roundtable discussions, among others. Distinguished experts and scholars from esteemed institutions of higher education such as Peking University and Nankai University, alongside corporate executives from enterprises like China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation, engaged in indepth exploration of big data applications, accounting discipline development and innovative talent cultivation. They shared cutting edge academic theories and innovative corporate practical insights.

    Michael DePrisco, the President and CEO of IMA, delivered a remote video address. He highlighted that the management accounting industry is entering a transformative phase where adapting to the current business environment and preparing for future sustainable development is paramount. He underscored the necessity for accounting professionals to possess a broad understanding of strategic planning, risk management, predictive modeling, and sustainable business management practices. Enhancing these skills and keeping pace with the times are crucial for effectively navigating changes, as well as creating value and driving growth. Attendees, including university experts, scholars, and corporate executives, delivered presentations on a range of hotspot issues in the accounting field such as data empowered sustainable development, innovative talent cultivation in the digital age, accounting talent cultivation in the digital era, corporate sustainability, and the digitalization of cost management, among others. Their rich experiences and unique perspectives provided practical insights for integrating sustainable development with emerging digital technologies.
